Dissecting the very wrongs of Trump’s new website (part 1)

An article from the guardian you may find useful: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/mar/30/donald-trump-uses-new-website-rewrite-history-presidency?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

So Trump’s started a new website. The center of this website is a 885-word word essay on Trump’s so-called achievements. We’ll be studying the first half of it in this article.

1 ‘Through his pro-American policies on trade, taxes, energy, regulation, immigration, and healthcare, President Trump ushered in a period of unprecedented economic growth, job creation, soaring wages, and booming incomes.’

This is false. Why?

Well, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you should know that COVID-19 has hurt the economy. Well, last year, the US economy suffered one of it’s worst financial crashes.

2 ‘Under President Trump, America led the world in reducing carbon emissions.’

False. He has over 120 posts questioning or making light of climate change on twitter. He questions it constantly, and even wothdrew from the Paris Climate Agreement.

3 ‘As President, he was an unwavering champion for our Nation’s heroes in uniform. He always stood proudly with our Nation’s extraordinary and courageous police officers, sheriffs, and law enforcement professionals.’

Also false. He did heckle John McCain, a Navy Veteran. He also said that those who died in service were ‘suckers and losers’. Not very supportive, is that?

Tune in two days from now for part 2.
