Welcome back! We’ll be debunking the entire COVID-19 paragraph.
1 ‘When the coronavirus plague arrived from China, afflicting every nation around the globe, President Trump acted early and decisively to ban travel from China and Europe, which saved countless lives.’
First of all, FORTY FIVE nations imposed restrictions on China before the US did. And Trump only imposed restrictions on European nations at March 12. Cases were already widespread then.
2 ‘He launched the greatest national industrial mobilization since World War II, refilling our depleted stockpiles of medical supplies, bringing our critical supply chains back home, pioneering life-saving medical treatments in record time,’
False. Medical supplies are STILL short of what they are supposed to be. Also, the ‘supplies’ Trump ‘got’ were donations. From HOPE.
3 ‘President Trump, from scratch, built the most robust testing system in the world’
False. Testing was really lacking. As of 11 May 2020, the US carried out about one test for every 35 people. That’s not a lot. Also, the US DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH TESTING KITS. That’s a statement in itself.
There’s probably a lot more false things. But what we can probably agree on is that the essay is not very accurate. It also omits several key points from his presidency, for example, him BEING IMPEACHED TWICE and RECORDING THE HIGHEST DEATH TOLL. So really, the article is very false.
